FFF featured in three nominations for Sport Positive Awards 2024

We are delighted that Football For Future is featured in three nominations for this year’s Sport Positive Awards.

‘The Sofie Project’ - football’s biggest ever player-led climate advocacy campaign - has been shortlisted for ‘Campaign of the Year’ at the Sport Positive Awards 2024! In collaboration with Common Goal, we showed that collective action can have a massive impact: 49 players united to take responsibility for their travel emissions during the 2023 Women’s World Cup, donating over €25,000 to climate resilience and adaptation initiatives. The campaign, led by Danish star Sofie Junge Pedersen and others, stands as a groundbreaking example of athlete activism and collaboration between athletes, NGOs, and environmental organisations.

Our co-director Barney Weston has also been shortlisted for the ‘Next Generation Trailblazer’ Award due to his proactive advocacy for more environmental sustainability in football. His leadership and innovative projects have positioned FFF as a pioneering force in sports sustainability, driving transformative changes and setting new standards for future policy and advocacy initiatives. Barney’s work continues to inspire and mobilise others towards a more sustainable future in sports.

Brentford Football Club collaborated with us to develop “the most comprehensive sustainability training programme undertaken by a football club” and have been shortlisted for the ‘Education and Training’ Award. Brentford delivered 18 sessions to over 230 club staff, including, on-field coaching staff, foundation staff, women’s first team, and men’s academy players, resulting in a transformative change in attitudes from everyone at the club.

Congratulations to all those shortlisted - we can’t wait for the Sport Positive Summit in October!
