Our collaboration with Yale Climate Connections is now live. The story is airing across more than 700 radio station frequencies nationwide in the United States.
Climate Change Is Already Affecting Football
Extreme weather events are growing in intensity and frequency. Players and clubs are already dealing with the consequences from dangerously high temperatures, wildfire smoke affecting air quality, waterlogged pitches, and storms that make travel unsafe.
Our founder Elliott Arthur-Worsop explains it directly:
"With extreme weather events becoming more intense and more frequent, whether this is very extremely hot temperatures, whether this is the pollution in the air from wildfires, or whether this is waterlogged pitches or crazy storms that make travel impossible."
Our Pitches in Peril report shows that extreme heat will hit hardest in the Global South. These are the regions that have produced some of the most celebrated players in the history of the game. The communities with the deepest roots in football stand to be affected most.
The World Cup Is a Real Opportunity
In June and July, billions of people will watch the FIFA Men's World Cup. That level of shared passion is one of the most powerful forces on earth.
Football For Future works to channel that energy toward climate action. We educate fans, support player advocacy, and build movements that produce measurable results.
Elliott puts it clearly:
"I believe that football is the most powerful social phenomenon in the world. The global football community are so many and they are so powerful."
When that community moves together, the impact reaches well beyond the pitch.
